Thank you for taking the time to look at how Gardening Unplugged came about and what it is intention is. I will do my best not to bore you, but simply explain the basics of what, where and when, so here goes!
Having worked in horticulture for many years I love and enjoy gardening and find it very rewarding. At the beginning of 2006 I was diagnosed with a terminal illness and could no longer continue in the job I loved. Following treatment and an improvement in my health I looked at what options were available to keep me involved with gardening whilst not putting to much strain on my health and so along came Gardening Unplugged.
Its aim is to provide its users with knowledge, support and advice through its development of an online gardening community. Its intention is to bring together many aspects of gardening including green waste recycling, a Garden Centre Index, Open Gardens and other gardening related charitable events. Teamed with this is a live chat room enabling gardeners of all backgrounds to share their experiences in real-time and a gardener’s forum where you can post and answer each others questions. Our forum offers you a chance to share information and ask others questions and advice or to search and post in our plant swap pages. We also have our online shop where we have a range of gardening based gifts and products for you to choose from.
To use all the services available on the site and to interact with other members you will need to register with us which is FREE and once registered you are able to access all areas of the website and interact with other members via the live chat room and Gardener’s Forum. Registration takes just 1 minute and only requires you to set up a username for use on the site registered to your email address, no other information is required and we don’t send junkmail. Also as a registered member you will have your own profile page where you can upload photographs of your garden and keep a gardeners diary visible to other members. Here you can store articles of interest to yourself and access them without having to search the site. Members are also able to rate any article published, rate Garden Centres, access the plant and seed exchange and submit their own articles for publication. Register now
On 1st March 2008 we opened our first retail unit offering our full product range and free gardening advice in Caldicot. The launch day was very busy and enjoyable and we would be pleased to see you if you are in the area. In the meantime I hope that you find this site both enjoyable and helpful. There is still lots that needs to be done for the site to reach it’s full potential so please bare with us whilst we get there, as I promise you we will.
Kindest regards
Kris
