Blusher

Many women make the mistake of over kill with blusher, remember less is more and use it in moderation, and whilst a decent blusher brush can be pricey it is a worthwhile investment and will definately help with application. Today there is so much choice of colours and this can make it very hard to choose, remember pinks and peaches work well for most and will help to give a natural looking glow. Dark skins should avoid any colours in the pink family and stick to orange or apricot hues something warmer! The more mature skin may find that a tawny colour blush will be more flattering on the skin and will give a more natural finish, remember never wear a blusher that works against your lip colour for example if you are wearing a pink lipstick go for a pink blusher.

Blusher Types

  • Gels – These are perhaps the newest members of the family and are very good for oily skins and are a great blush for the summer, these should be applied directly to moisturised skin or foundation.
  • Powders – The traditional blush that we all know and can be easily layered in order to achieve the desired depth of colour.
  • Cream – This is probably easiest to apply with the fingertips, make sure that you blend it well, a tip for giving a more natural skin glow is to apply a light layer of transparent powder over the blush.
  • Liquid – Going on holiday or already have a sun tan then this is a good bet and wonderful for wearing in hot weather, generally gives a very natural and light coverage.
