Plastic Pot Refuge

Everytime we go to a garden centre we buy a plant for the garden and are left with a spare pot. Some of them get re-used to grow cuttings and seedlngs in, but for many their days are spent either gathering cobwebs in the corner of the shed or end up in the bin. At home we have our seedlings and cuttings ready for potting up and growing on to later be sold at our new shop in Caldicot, Monmouthshire. Rather than waste money buying new pots resulting in us having to charge more for the plants, we put a sign up on our gate asking for spare unwanted pots. Currently we have received around 200 pots of varying sizes saved from a life in a corner or bin now able to fulfill once again their destiny. To continue this ‘recycling’ we have decided to give refuge to spare plastic pots and continue re-using them for our plants by asking our customers to bring their empty pots back to us. Though it will only make a small dent in the amount of plastic being wasted, we will at least be doing our bit and in return saving our customers both space and money.
