What is causing my ‘money plant’ (can’t remember its proper name!) to get a white/grey powdery stuff on the leaves?
It then dies right back to the stem.

I don’t really like houseplants so i don’t mind it dissappearing, it would be interesting to know why it’s happening though.
I’ve had them before and not had this happen.
Very bad feng shui to have them die off! long face

I may be wrong, but it sounds like it could be overwatered causing mildew.  This is quite common with money plants - Cassula ovata or Jade Plants.  It is recommended that you wait until the bottom leaves become soft or start to wrinkle before watering as you know it then needs a drink.  The wrinkled leaves will then plump back up until it needs watering again.  If it is affected with mildew, spray with a fungicide to control it and keep the plant on the drier side.  The other possability is mealybug which they are also prone to, which will appear as white fluffy deposits on the roots or stems.  This can be treated with an insecticide for mealy bug, but do not use any treatments that contain Malathion or Pyrethrin.

Of course the plant could just be unhappy knowing you don’t like it and committing suicide LOL

Regards
