tomato costoluto fiorentino

Has anyone grown this tomato this year.I tried it for the first time and allthough I expected irregular shapes,mine are like something from another planet, all spikey and misshapen.Is this normal ?

To be honest I had never heard of it! but after googling found it and it is a ugly critter even it’s own mother couldn’t love it, and it is described as mishapen

Thanks Plug,I have had a look at the picture and they are lovely compared to my crop of mishapes,still they may taste ok if they ever ripen!

The big italian types are good for cooking same as the italian plum types

It doesn’t matter what the outside looks like, drop it in a pan of boiling water for a few seconds this will make the skin peel off, then use as you would a tin of tomatoes but much nicer tasting
